This course provides the comprehensive set of practical skills needed to become a confident first aider at work, giving you both the ability and knowledge to deal with first aid emergencies.

This course is available with 4 different payment options:

Standard External (£240.00). For all external candidates.

Standard University of Brighton student/staff (£220.00): For all University of Brighton students and staff. A valid Unicard number must be submitted along with full payment at time of booking.

Department (£220.00): For all University of Brighton staff funded by their Univeristy department to undertake the course. A valid Unicard number must be submitted along with approved budget code at time of booking.

Nominated First aider (£0):For all University of Brighton satff nominated first aiders as appointed by the University Health and Safety department. A valid Unicard number must be submitted along with nominated first aider reference code supplied by H&S Dept.

The course will be run over 3 consecutive days. Candidates will receive a certificate on successful completion of a final assessment at the end of the 18hrs of training. The content of the course will cover how to deal with the following as well as training to use defibrillators:

  • Bleeding (minor and severe)
  • Burns
  • Casualty movement
  • Choking (adult)
  • CPR (adult)
  • Fainting
  • Primary survey
  • Seizures (adult)
  • Shock
  • Unconscious casualty
  • Allergic reaction
  • Asthma
  • Bone, muscle and joint injuries
  • Chest pains (including heart attack)
  • Eye injuries
  • Head injuries
  • Low blood sugar
  • Poisons
  • Spinal injuries
  • Sprains and strains
  • Stroke
