This 2-disc DVD includes highlights from the fascinating array of oral histories and information gathered over the course of this year-long community history project which ran during 2010. The project was funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and run by Screen Archive South East, in partnership with the Centre for Kentish Studies and Medway Archives and Local Studies Centre.

Contents - Disc One:

  • Information about the project
  • A selection of oral history recordings edited with original archive film material for the River Medway and surrounding area
  • Further oral history clips organised by place and accompanied by still images
  • Oral histories gathered as part of the 'Medway on Screen' collaboration with Black History Month
  • A thank you to all project participants

Contents - Disc Two:

Full-length versions of the original archive film material from Screen Archive South East, which was the stimulus for the project.  The films are:

  • In the Hop Fields of Kent, 1937
  • Chegworth Watermill c1946
  • Procession Gazette, 1930 (with an introduction by Dr Frank Gray, Screen Archive South East)
  • St Bartholomew's Hospital, 1930 (with an introduction by Dr Frank Gray)
  • Kent Messenger Newsreel, 1930 (with a commentary by Dr Frank Gray)
