Detailed Description

Based on recently discovered letters, this book tells the story of Paul Montford who left his mark on the civic landscape of Melbourne. Montford designed the scupture on the Shrine of Remembrance and the statues to Adam Lindsay Gordon in Spring Street, John Wesley in Lonsdale Street and Peter Pan at the Melbourne Zoo. His engaging correspondence and previously unseen photographic archive reveal his professional and private concerns and are a fascinating reflection of the cultural life of Melbourne between the world wars.
